Just a few words of introduction about Raymond Clark and the owner.
The gallery opened in
September 1997 and offers contemporary craft from over 100 American
artisans working in nearly every medium. Our focus is functional
art, art that can tell time, adorn your body or measure your coffee.
Our artists stretch from coast to coast but also include a few local
artists. Among the local artists we represent are Tony Waters, who
paints and sculpts; fine artist Sally Jacobs; sculptor Jeff Kopish;
bead artist Melissa Earley; and potter Kathy Hawkins. We select our
pieces always considering form, function, and value.
RAYMOND CLARK is located in an area of historic King Street that has
been a shopping district for generations. We moved our store to 307
King Street in October 2002. In doing so we gained space to promote
more artists and landed right in the middle of the busy part of
King. We are now surrounded by shops and restaurants and are being
discovered by more people than ever.
RAYMOND CLARK has been successful in Charleston for many reasons. We
have found that there is a large population here of people who want
more contemporary, non-traditional items. We are different from most
stores in that almost everything is hand-made by artists in America.
We keep our store fresh by always introducing new artists.
Thank you for visiting our gallery. Remember, if you are interested
in something that you saw in the store that wasn’t on our web site
we are always happy to take pictures and e-mail them to you.
